3/4- Ein Karem
Today we had a half day Tiyul to a place called Ein Kerem. Its a little town not to far from Tzuba with some old churches. I guess that kind of gives away the theme of the Tiyul (Christianity). It was a pretty cool trip though, we got to listen to and watch the end of Mass (In German) and then talk to a Polish monk afterwards. And on top of all that, there was also this really really good ice cream place that we went to :D.
3/5- "Mental Health Day"
Technically, we were supposed to have a full day Tiyul today but after many complaints and 67 VERY tired kids, today has been designated as a "mental health day." Pretty much what that means is that we get to sleep as late as we want as long as we are in Jewish History by 10:00. Then we had class from 10-1 and that was it for the day. No Hebrew and no general studies. I dont know what my friends did for most of the day but I pretty much caught up on some much needed rest.
3/6- Visitors
Visitors are always fun, especially when they come baring food! :P Yep, that's right, parents are here (well mine at least). So instead of going out with our group tonight, i get to go out with my parents and stay in a nice hotel :).
3/7- Happy Birthday to me!
Today was a good day. I got to sleep in and have a nice breakfast with the parents and didn't have to pick up rocks. We came back to Tzuba around noon and I hung out there with my friends for the rest of the day. My absolutely adorable roommates left me chocolate and notes on my bed and a few of my friends made me a little microwaved cake in a bowl with smiley faced candles. I also got some other presents such as a few bracelets and of course chocolate :D and plenty of hugs. This day just helped me realize what amazing friends i've already made on my month and a half here.
Tonight a group of Israeli teens was staying on our Kibbutz and we had services and did a little scavenger hunt with them. After that we had our normal Friday night free time. I just hung out with a bunch of people on the playground because, you know, why not?
3/10- Oral Law Tiyul
Today we had another full day Tiyul. We drove about 3 hours up North to learn about the Sanhedrin and Oral Law. There we got to avoid the rain by going into some caves/tombs. Then we ate lunch (which consisted of some very delicious chocolate muffin things) and headed to a Kibbutz to see an old synagogue. Its amazing the things that your mind remembers because when we got there it wasnt the actual mosaic that i recognized but the way that the viewing platform and benches were spread around it and the screen that came down to show the little movie that explained the site.It was the mosaic floor of a 15th century synagogue that had been rediscovered when Kibbutzniks (if that's the proper term...) were clearing fields for farming. After our short stop there, we drove for a little bit to a natural pool (also been there before!). It was kinda cold so I didn't go in but it was still fun to explore.
